I am almost a year into this Blogging thing. I thought about it long and hard before taking action because once I started I wanted to be certain I would stick with it. The action of blogging needed to be based on a real decision.
I had one objective: to post new content once a week. Ideally, that content would contribute to the idea of defining our daily experiences in the metaphor of stones that make up a bridge. A solid bridge upon which we navigate life’s seasons. One would think that is not a big deal, but like anything, stuff happens. Things like daily chores, emergencies and bright shinny opportunities come along to derail that initial commitment. I wanted to avoid using those events as a reason to quit.
Add to that the learning curve on how a BLOG works and the action it takes to get a peep of a word in edgewise in the noisy world of cyberspace, and one’s resolve can wane. But here we are, ten months later and the stats show you are out there. Thank you. I mean it, thank you for your time, even the few minutes you take to click on or through these pages. You are most welcome in this place.
At the same time, its a bit creepy that I know as much as I do about who you are, since I am not sure who you really are! Oh course, I do know some of you, since you have introduced yourselves or we have met in the flesh. But many I do not yet know. Let me just say: Hi there!
What I do know about this audience, I like. You are diverse in gender, age, geography and language. I like that. I really do. They say this is about more than attracting an audience, but rather engaging in a conversation. I am working on that.

- My About page. I am glad to know you are looking at this. Glad and a bit embarrassed. Revising this page is on my short list so stand-by for an updated version.
- Letter to Friends and Family Only. When it came to me to use my BLOG to distribute our annual news, I hesitated. I mean, after all, did I really want to post to the world (potentially) what we did last year? So I drafted the letter like I would any other year and realized, why not? I did send some cards and emails too, but instead of printing the letter as an enclosure, I included an insert with the URL. For the emails I sent a link to the BLOG post. It was fun getting comments back. For those concerned about saving trees, it certainly did that. Linking to sites providing background information about what we are involved in without having to outline details in the letter added value without clutter.
- A Visit to Mission Aviation Fellowship. This BLOG post was put up twice last year, but the second post received a lot more views. You see, I am learning how to write good headlines and copy, how to optimize for SEO and readability. I wanted to see if the things I am learning are making a difference in cyber visibility and apparently they are. I am pleased because any attention that can be brought to the fine work this organization does is time well spent.
- December at our home – Celebrations and Milestones. When I read this one, tears still well up!
- My Home page. I am glad this is getting some attention as well. It, along with the About page, attempts to describe why this BLOG even exists, so having you all visit there is gratifying. Thank you.
